Mailbox Monday -- December 22

In my mailbox this week:

Katie Brown Celebrates (contest win from A Bookworm's World...thanks, Luanne! I gave this to my hubby for an early Christmas gift, and he's already picked out a few things to cook for me. Can't wait!)

Bringing Tony Home by Tissa Abeysekara (from LibraryThing Early Reviewers)

The Sinner's Guide to Confession by Phyllis Schieber (for a blog tour in late January)

A big thank you to Marcia from The Printed Page for hosting Mailbox Monday!

******

Boy, the holiday season sure is tiring! We finished up Christmas shopping this weekend, and everything was wrapped and all the packages were mailed. I took the weekend off from blogging to recuperate, and I don't even want to log into Google Reader. LOL Now I just have to bake cookies with The Girl and prepare food to bring to Serena's for Christmas dinner.

This will be a busy week, but it's my favorite time of the year. Just seeing the excitement on The Girl's face makes me happy. And on Christmas Eve, I get to see her portray a shepherd in the Christmas pageant. Last year, she was an angel, and this year, she turned down the part of the innkeeper's wife because the shepherds get to run around and tell everyone about the birth of Jesus while the innkeeper's wife sits up front and says nothing. She's definitely a ham, and I'm happy she's more outgoing than her mother.

Anyone have any big plans for the holidays? How do you celebrate? I'd love to hear from you all!

I love Katie Brown Celebrates and hope you enjoy it too. Our Christmas will be low key - it will just be the 3 of us and a guy who works with my hubby who would otherwise be by himself.

Hi Anna! Very glad that you have caught up on some things. I can relate to how this time of year can be so busy!

"Anyone have any big plans for the holidays? How do you celebrate? I'd love to hear from you all!"

Christmas is my Mom's birthday so we do a Christmas/Birthday party for her here at my house. After we eat our big meal, we pretty much tear open presents. Of course Mom makes out super well. Afterward, she takes my grandma home and then goes to sleep (she works graveyard as a nurse so she's pretty tired during her party). Mike clean up the Christmas wrapping while I clean up the kitchen. Then we make it just in time my in-laws house to do the whole process all over again. I can't eat a big meal again, but I do manage to put down a little dessert. :)

Congrats on winning Katie Brown Celebrates. What kind of dishes does hubby want you to make??

P.S. Thank you so much for the touching Christmas card. It arrived on Saturday.

I'd love to hear what recipes he cooks Anna.

Smaller this year. My daughter married last year and we had them their 'first' Christmas. My daughter will be coming home to Canada the 29th though - can't wait!!

The Katie Brown book is wonderful! My Mom stopped by last week and saw it. She started to browse through it and wants to borrow it now. :) Here's my Mailbox!

I gave my hubby an early christmas present too: Tales of Beetle the Bard.

As for Christmas, we celebrated once with my brother and parents last friday and we will celebrate again with my parents on Christmas Day and then hubby's parents on Boxing Day. Plus we did Chanukkah last saturday.

I really like this time of year also. I am trying to decide if I want to brave going to the mall today on my lunch break or just forget about it altogether. Hmmm.

Enjoy your new books!

Serena: Yes, I'm very lucky!

Ramya: Great! I look forward to your review!

Bermudaonion: Sounds like you had a nice, cozy Christmas planned.

Jeannie: You're welcome for the card. I heard him say something about candied peas and something about frozen brownies. Not sure, though, since I didn't really look at the book yet.

Alyce: You'll have to let us know how they turn out.

Luanne: When he cooks something, I'll let you all know, but I haven't been lucky yet. Hope you had a wonderful holiday with your daughter.

Wendi: I've heard a lot of good things about it, and I can't wait to try some of the dishes.

Callista: Sounds like your holiday was busy!

Shana: Not as much as he used to since he changed jobs, and I miss it because he's a good cook.

Veens: Thanks!

Literary Feline: I never want to brave the mall, no matter what time of year!
