Stay Tuned for a Guest Blogger!

So The Girl wants to start a blog, but I told her she's only 7 years old and that's too young to blog. She rolled her eyes and said, "But, Mommy! I'm almost 10!" (She then asked me if 10's old enough to get a job. She must want to expand her Pokemon card collection or something.)

She wanted to start a blog to review books, so I made a deal with her. If we read some classic children's books or other children's books that appeal to a wider audience (if I didn't make such stipulations, we'd be reading Pokemon chapter books, and I want to broaden her literary horizons!), I'd give my review and allow her to provide some thoughts as well. She agreed, and I think it sounds like a lot of fun! We finished one book already, so I told her to jot down her thoughts about what she liked and didn't like, what she thought about the characters. We'll see how this goes.

(Check out the sidebar to see what we're reading right now!)

So when are you planning on the first guest blogger review? LOL I can't wait to hear what she says about these books you will be reading, particularly your current read of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

What a great idea! How awesome that she wants to be involved in things you care about!

Yes, I remember the Pokemon years. It wasn't that long ago that we gave away bags and bags of cards & books...they still have some that they won't let go of! Too funny!

Well, we've finished one book together so far. Just have to write up the review. And we're almost finished with the second and have the third already lined up. I've been having lots of fun with her so far. I'm glad she likes to read and write like I do. It gives us something to share.

Have you turned her on to the early Anne McCaffrey Pern books yet? I loved those when I was younger and I still love them today.
By the way, this is me, hhollyd, from "the site". :) But you knew that, didn't you?

My son also went thru the Pokemon phase. He did finally outgrow it, thank goodness. But I still have the cards. tehehe
