BBAW--Interview With Fellow Book Blogger Lourdes of LOST IN BOOKS

BBAW is a chance to show book bloggers you appreciate the time they take to post reviews about books you've read or might not have heard about otherwise, as well as a chance to show your readers how much you appreciate them. BBAW also is a time to get acquainted with new book blogs, and My Friend Amy had the wonderful idea of book bloggers interviewing one another.

I was paired with Lourdes of Lost in Books, a blog I've just started to read, and I think you all will find worthwhile to check out! Here's what she had to say:

Anna: Can you tell me a little about yourself?

Lourdes: My life is a bit crazed now. I work full-time as a newspaper editor in Long Island, N.Y. I've been taking graduate-level courses and have just now started on my thesis, and I'm getting married in April in Hawaii. I'll get two stepsons in the deal. Oh, and we've been trying to sell my house (in a bad housing market) in order to move into our dream house, an old Victorian. The house deal is the most stressful of everything that's happening! I love to travel, take photos, and do scrapbooks--but I haven't had much time for that lately.

Anna: How long have you been blogging?

Lourdes: Since January of 2006. I can't believe it's been that long!

Anna: Why do you blog? What do you enjoy most about blogging?

Lourdes: Other than writing my thesis, I don't get much of a chance to write anymore--so this affords me that opportunity. Plus, I like talking about good books! Another great thing about blogging has been the feedback from other readers and from writers, too. One of the most interesting things to have happened since I've been blogging followed a Smithsonian mystery book tour to England and Scotland last year. I and another traveler have book blogs. After the tour, one of the writers we met, Martin Edwards, said that we inspired him to begin his own blog. That was very cool!

Anna: What is the first book your remember reading or your favorite book as a kid?

Lourdes: The childhood book that stands out is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. I reread it several times as a child. I think that one book alone instilled in me a love of good literature.

Anna: What are your favorite genres? Books? Authors?

Lourdes: Mystery, without a doubt, specifically British mystery. My favorite authors, therefore, are British mystery authors: P.D. James, Andrew Taylor, Ruth Rendell, Ann Cleeves, Reginald Hill, Aline Templeton, to name a few. There's amazing crime fiction coming out of the U.K. right now. I'm always learning of new British writers.

Anna: What is your favorite book blog?

Lourdes: Oh, my. There are so many great blogs out there. But I'll name one: Mysteries in Paradise. This is a friend of mine in Australia whose blog is always chock-full of interesting information and great reviews.

Anna: What kinds of books are featured most often on your blog?

Lourdes: Mysteries, of course! I would say they make up at least 90 percent of my reading these days.

Anna: How much reading time do you get on an average day?

Lourdes: Not as much as I'd like. About half an hour (while on the treadmill). I also listen to an audiobook in the car always, so that's another 45 minutes a day.

Thanks, Lourdes! Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! And good luck in graduate school! I'll be stopping by your blog now and again to say hi!!

Now don't you think you all should pop in at Lost in Books and say hi, too? Don't forget to get some good mystery recommendations while you're there. I don't read a lot of mysteries, but Lourdes has reviewed a few that caught my eye!

Wow, Lourdes, you sound like one busy girl!

Enjoyed the interview. I've not read many mysteries either, but, speaking of British mysteries, I do love P.D. James.

Now I'm off to check out Lost in Books and read about Anna!

This is a great interview, and now I have met another book blogger, Lourdes, who also scrapbooks.

I read some mysteries, but not too many. I'm not sure I've read many from Britain or the U.K. in particular.

Now, I'm going to check out her interview of you!
