Mailbox Monday -- January 26 (a bit late with this one...)

It's time for another Mailbox Monday, hosted by Marcia from The Printed Page. I think it's the first time I've posted late, but that stomach bug The Girl had...well, she passed it 'round the house and it successfully kicked my rear. I'm still not 100%, but at least I'm halfway functional. I'm so proud of The Girl for taking care of me when she was just starting to recover. (My hubby is such a baby when he's sick (I love you, Honey!! Seriously, I do!), so he was pretty much unconscious. LOL) We played zombie on the couch and watched the Back to the Future trilogy.

At least Serena from Savvy Verse & Wit and I were able to meet up with Heather from Age 30+...A Lifetime of Books before illness struck. We had lunch on Saturday and chatted for a couple of hours. It was great fun!

Anyway...I received more books than expected last week, and they look good:

The Jewel Trader of Pegu
by Jeffrey Hantover (from HarperCollins)

The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister (I think this one is from MotherTalk, but no one has contacted me about a tour date...)

Galway Bay by Mary Pat Kelly (for the Hachette Early Birds Blog Tour)

That Went Well: Adventures in Caring for My Sister by Terrell Harris Dougan (from Author Marketing Experts Inc.)

Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah (from St. Martin's Reading Group Gold)

Being Written by William Conescu (borrowed from Heather of Age 30+...A Lifetime of Books)

Also coming into the house for The Girl last week was Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw by Jeff Kinney. She was thrilled when I told her we'd go out and buy it to complete her collection.

What books did you welcome with open arms last week?

Hope you feel all better soon, Anna. What fun that you and Heather and Serena got together! (I also mentioned a blogger get-together in my MM post this week.) Looks like you got some good books this week!

I am glad you are back! I detest being sick. I can't stand to sit still, and it irritates me when I HAVE to! I sent my mom out yesterday (before I saw the Newberry announcement) to buy The Graveyard Book by Neil Kaiman. I've decide to read it to the kids, a chapter a day. I haven't read to them for awhile, but they are entranced!

Please take it easy until you are feeling completely better. At least you have some great books to help the time go by!

P.S. Give my best to the girl.

So sorry to hear that you were sick. How sweet that The Girl nursed you back to health. Sounds like you got some good books. I have some of them too but haven't gotten to the new ones. I read The Jewel Trader last year in an online book club at B&N with the author. It was a very good book and Jeffrey was a great guy. If I recall correctly it was his first book too. As for the snow, we are getting yet another storm here in NY state. We get it about 6" at a time. It doesn't slow us down much though! Stay well and enjoy your books.

Glad to hear you are recovering! And, so cute of The Girl to take care of you.

Look at all that book loot! I have Being Written on my shelves too and am looking forward to it. Sounds very clever.

Fyrefly: I can't wait to read it!

Serena: Hey I don't whine...at least not much! LOL Sorry for making your hubby sick. :( At least you've been spared...so far.

avisannschild: It was a lot of fun, and I'm glad you had a chance to meet up with some bloggers, too!

Sandy: Thanks! I don't mind so much when I'm sick but functional. I hate when it puts me out of commission. I have to check out The Graveyard Book. I've seen it all over the place.

Jeannie: Thanks for the well wishes. The Girl was standing behind me when I was commenting on your blog, and she had a love at first sight experience with Dixie. She says we definitely have to fly out to meet you! :)

Jo-Jo: She's like a little mother. If I wasn't so out of it, I probably would've enjoyed it more! LOL

Dar: Thanks! Much better now thankfully!

Heather: We'll have to do lunch again!

Naida: My husband watches them on On Demand all. the. time. Sometimes it's annoying, but it was cool watching them one after the other. It's easier to follow the story.

Wrighty: Glad to hear you enjoyed Jewel Trader. We had a few inches of snow followed by a lot of ice. So not fun.

Alyce: I first heard of the book on your blog!

Iliana: It sort of reminds me of that movie Stranger Than Fiction. I hope it's good.

I know you know Serena, but was this your first meet with Heather? How fun to get together!

I must be hiding in a closet because I don't recognize any of these titles! Enjoy the reading.

Trish: It was the first time we met Heather! She and I discovered we live only a town away from each other and our families attend the same church! How cool is that?

Very cool! Other than Laura (reading reflections), who I knew in real life before blogging, I can't think of any other Dallas bloggers.

Ah, The Jewel Trader of Pegu has been on my wish list since I saw it in a B&N flier. Lucky you, Anna, can't wait to see how you like it!
