Read-a-Thon Hour 1: Let's Start Reading!

So we've arrived at Serena's, my laptop's online, our books are out...and we'll be leaving shortly for the library sale.  At least the library is less than 5 minutes away from Serena's house, so we won't be gone long.

The Hour 1 mini-challenge asks readers to answer a few questions.  The Girl (age 9) is hopped up on sugar (just finished a hot chocolate) and is REALLY eager, so we'll let her go first.

3 facts about me:

The Girl:  My favorite color is pink.  My favorite dog is a beagle.  My favorite tv show is SpongeBob Squarepants.

Anna:  I'm addicted to books.  I love naps.  I'm wearing shorts right now even though it's still chilly.

How many books are in your Read-a-Thon TBR pile?

The Girl: 12

Anna:  10...a mix of WWII, poetry, Vietnam challenge reads, YA

Any goals for the Read-a-Thon?

The Girl:  I want to read at least 3 books.

Anna:  I'd like to finish the 2 poetry books and at least 1 other book, but really, I just want to have fun!

Advice for first-time Read-a-Thoners?

The Girl:  You don't have to stay up all night.  Turn on your reading eyes because it's a long day.  Have a good time, and it doesn't matter if you don't finish a whole book.  My mom didn't finish one last time, but she was a good sport.

Anna:  Take frequent breaks, whether to snack, participate in the Read-a-Thon mini challenges or cheer on your fellow readers.  And most importantly, have fun!

I'm sure we'll be back online for another few updates, but we'll see...

Looks like you are making great headway
Keep up the reading, don’t let that head sway
Eyes on the page and coffee in hand
You’ll be entering a new land.

GO READER!

My Book
by David L. Harrison

I did it!
I did it!
Come and look at what I've done!
I read a book!
When someone wrote it
Long ago
For me to read,
How did he know
That this was the book
I'd take from the shelf
And lie on the floor
And read by myself?
I really read it!
Just like that!
Word by word,
From first to last!

I love that you two read together for the event. I tried to get my mom to participate but she hasn't been able to concentrate to read lately. Too much on her mind. I hope you are having fun with Serena!
