Birthday Gifts DON'T Count!

As Serena pointed out in the comments to one of my recent posts, I said I wasn't going to cast on any more knitting projects...but did. I was hoping no one would notice, but this is Serena we're talking about. No pulling any fast ones on her!

Yes, I guess I did cast on something new without finishing anything else in the sidebar. I should've imposed some rules or something, and I knew I was doing it when I did it...but it's my little girl's 7th birthday (they grow up sooo fast!) and she absolutely loves when I knit stuff for her. So birthday gifts just don't count! (Also, I figured it was okay because I actually took something off the sidebar. The Star Pillow simply replaces it...so it's not like I ADDED anything...and it'll be done in a couple of days. At that point, I'll actually be down one, so it's a good thing, right??)

Anyway, I didn't do any writing or reading last night. But I did do a lot of knitting. I turned on the Food Network and watched a Bobby Flay Throwdown involving macaroni and cheese (and much drooling and fantasizing about making some myself). When that was done, I turned on The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen hoping to see Stuart Townsend, but that didn't happen (I was too impatient). Then, the Poison fan in me turned on Bret Michael's Rock of Love for the heck of it, but the plasticized women lacking self-respect made me sick to my stomach. It was slightly entertaining watching a bunch of women fight over a 40-something 80s rocker, but not enough to keep me watching. (Actually admitting that I watched 20 minutes of it is pretty embarrassing.)

The good news is, I finished 2 1/2 of the pieces for the pillow. That brings me to a total of 5 1/2, and I need 10. I'm crossing my fingers that I won't run out of yarn, but at least I have plenty of fluffy, crazy yarns The Girl loves in case I do. I will definitely have the pieces knit by Thursday night so I can seam it and stuff it on Friday and have it ready for the party on Saturday.

I love the hair-splitting going on in this post about the new project....but since it for the little one, I will let it go! LOL

If it makes you feel any better, I watched the whole hour and a half of that redonkulous show. It really does kind of make you feel the whole equal rights feminist movement never even happened. It is sad but it does go to show you that giant cartoon breasts one-tone yellow hair can only get you so far. I just wonder who thinks this is a great way to start a relationship.
ps thanks for all the real estate advice, i am excited about our move now.

Yeah, that show was pretty depressing.

On the real estate front, glad to be of help!
