Mailbox Monday -- October 6

There will be some excitement at Diary of an Eccentric tomorrow as I host my first virtual book tour for TLC Book Tours, so I thought I'd participate in Mailbox Monday a day early.

As part of Mailbox Monday, participants list the books they received in the mail over the last week.

Here's what I received:

Sky Over El Nido by C.M. Mayo (which I won in a caption contest sponsored by the Bethesda Writer's Center)

Cold Rock River by Jackie Lee Miles (which I'm reviewing next month for Pump Up Your Book Promotion)

Cooperative Village by Frances Madeson (from the author)

Arsenic Soup for Lovers by Georgia Z. Post (from the author via Bostick Communications)

Sam's Quest for the Crimson Crystal and Sam's Quest: The Royal Trident by Ben Furman (which I'm reviewing with The Girl next month for Pump Up Your Book Promotion)

The Dragonfly Secret by Clea & John Adams (from the authors via Bostick Communications)

I love receiving books in the mail, and The Girl is very excited about playing a part in the reviews. (She should be debuting this week, once all my blog excitement has died down!)

What books have you received recently??

I just read and reviewed THE DRAGONFLY SECRET. I also received COLD ROCK RIVER for the Pump Up Your Book Promotion book tour. I'll be anxious to hear what you think of these.

Sounds like a good week. It was a slow week, book-wise, for me. I'm expecting Cooperative Village so I'll be anxious to see what you think.

Anna (and Julie) - I'm on the Cold Rock River tour too! That book looks so good.

Anna, it was a great mailbox week for you! I can't wait to see you on tour this week!

I'll pass your mailing info along to Joy Nash, and hopefully you'll receive Immortals this week!

I just got Tethered from the Read it Forward program. I'm looking forward to that and finishing In The Woods.

I'm impressed by your reading list. I don't read nearly as much as I'd like to.

I've been meaning to drop by your blog forever - I'm so glad I finally got around to it. What fun!

It's amazing to me that I get TONS of review books every week, but never the same ones as other people. I can't even remember what books I got in the mail this week - I think they were all books for the Reader's Jury program at Elle magazine.

Anyway, you've got a great blog. I'll be adding it to my feeder and coming back often!

Anna, you got in a pretty good stack of books there. I got in a few last week and I'm going to have to think to remember what they were already. lol. Happy Reading.

Julie: My daughter and I read The Dragonfly Secret together this evening. My review should make it to the blog some time this week! I saw your review and marked it; I'm a bit behind in my blog reading with the tour and all. Looking forward to your Cold Rock River review as well.

Bermudaonion: I'll be watching for your review of Cooperative Village as well!

Alea: I read the first story in Arsenic Soup and it was very entertaining. There is no false advertising; they are very, very short stories!

Shana: Thanks for passing my info on to Joy! I'm looking forward to reading that book! Can't wait to see your review of Cold Rock River!

Ti: Thanks for stopping by my blog! I haven't heard of those books, but I'm going to look them up! I wish I didn't have to go to work so I could read all day! Then again, maybe I wouldn't want to read so much if I had all the time in the world...

Susan: So glad you stopped by my blog! I've subscribed to your blog as well, so I'll be popping in over there. I think it's great when there's a diversity of books being reviewed. I love seeing new titles!

Dar: Thanks! I just started writing down the titles as soon as they come in so I can participate in Mailbox Monday. That's a weekly challenge/meme I can handle!

I also received Cold Rock River to review for Pump Up Your Book Promotion. I have read Sam's Quest for the Crimson Crystal and will be reviewing Sam's Quest The Royal Trident. I liked them both. My daughter did not feel like doing a joint review at this time. She has done it in the past.

Pabast: Thanks for stopping by my blog!! I'm looking forward to the Sam's Quest books! I think it's great that your daughter has done reviews with you. I'm hoping the excitement doesn't wear off with my daughter. Looking forward to your reviews!! I'm going to subscribe to your blog so I don't miss them!

I love your post! I'd love to start my own Monday Mailbox - it looks like a great way to share upcoming books!

Any pointers? (How did you get your logo for the post?)

Take care ~ Wendi

funny - I just learned about "scheduling" a post!

I also noticed that you mentioned you were taking part in a virtual blog tour - let me know how you like it. I was going to do one, and chickened out because I didn't fully understand it!

Wendi: I'm looking forward to reading your first Mailbox Monday!! I too just discovered the joys of scheduling posts. It makes it easy to take a break from blogging!

As for the virtual blog tours, I think they're a lot of fun. You get to read some really great books, and in the case of TLC Book Tours, you get an opportunity to converse with the author via email. I think you should give them a try if you have time!

I'll admit that I'm most curious about the book you won in a "caption contest", and the contest itself ... do tell us more!

Cold Rock River sounds great! I hadn't heard of it before. Oh when will I find time to read all these great-sounding books?!

Anna said...

Dawn: I'll have to ask Serena if she remembers where that contest was posted. She's the one who pointed it out to me. They just posted some strange comic-like picture and asked for a comment.

Avisannschild: I was perusing the Pump Up Your Book Promotion blog and that's how I heard about Cold Rock River. Oh, I hear you about needing more hours in a day to read all these good books!!
