Mailbox Monday -- December 7

Time for another Mailbox Monday, hosted by Marcia from The Printed Page. Thanks, Marcia!

This was a busy week!

First up, the WWII books, which I'll be reading for the War Through the Generations 2009 challenge:

Disguise by Hugo Hamilton (which I bought)

Here are the others I received last week:

Gods Behaving Badly by Marie Phillips (from Hachette...thanks, Valerie!)

An Offer You Can't Refuse by Jill Mansell (from Sourcebooks...thanks, Danielle!)

Lost and Found by Carolyn Parkhurst (contest win from B&b ex libris...thanks, Bethany!)

Chasing the Roswell Alien by Glenn Marcel (contest win from J. Kaye's Book Blog...thanks, J. Kaye!)

The Rest of Her Life by Laura Moriarty (from Book Club Girl)

These will keep me busy for awhile. What books did you receive last week??

******

Thanks to Monica from Monniblog, Diary of an Eccentric has a new banner. Monica did such a wonderful job getting the vision of my blog just right. Thanks so much, Monica!!

Anna (and Monica) the new banner is so pretty!

Those books look great, Anna. I think I remember getting the press release from Bostick on the WWII book.

My post is HERE.

We got some of the same books. I'm reading The Rest of Her Life right now so I'll be ready for the show.

You received some great books!

Have you read Hitler and Mars Bars? It's about Operation Shamrock, where the Irish Red Cross helped Irish families foster German children near the end of the war when they were litterally starving. They remained in Ireland for three years then were returned to their families. It was a wonderful book! Here's the review: http://wendisbookcorner.blogspot.com/2008/12/review-hitler-and-mars-bars-by-dianne.html and I've got an interview on the way!

Amy: Thanks! Monica rocks!

Lenore: Thanks! I really wasn't expecting that many books! But I love bookish surprises!

Cathy: Glad you like the new look!

Shana: Thanks! I don't reply to too many of those Bostick emails, but I didn't want to pass that one up!

Bermudaonion: I'm sure it will be a great show!

Wendi: I just reviewed Hitler and Mars Bars. I saw your review, and I'll be sure to read it soon. It seems I'm always behind in Google Reader these days!

Ruth: Thanks! It's always comforting to know I'm not the only one with a huge wish list!

Gautami: Sarah's Key! I'm jealous! Can't wait for your review!

Dar: Seems like the challenge will never be here!!

Callista: Thanks!

CherryBlossomMJ: Thanks! It's a big change, and I couldn't be happier!

Alyce: You can't have too many good WWII books!

I left a comment on your review of *Hitler and Mars Bars* about the new banner -- it looks great!

You (and your mailbox) have had a busy week - enjoy.

My Mailbox Monday is here.

Memory: I'll be reading it soon. It sounds like such an interesting book!

Trish: Thanks!

Veens: WWII is a period I enjoy reading about. (Not sure if enjoy is really the right word, but you know what I mean.) So I'm always grabbing these kinds of books when it can, not just for the challenge!

Tanabata: Thanks! Why did your book get sent back?

Serena: I'll make an official challenge post soon. I just have to gather all my WWII books from my various shelves and prioritize my reading!

Dawn: Thanks! I'll get to your mailbox soon. I'm drowning in unread blog posts. Google Reader is not my friend right now. LOL

It was the Collector's Edition of The Tales of Beedle the Bard and the quality just wasn't what I would've expected for $100. Think of all the other books I could buy with that! So it went back. I'll get the standard edition instead.

Tanabata: Not sure I'd spend that much money on any book! I think you made the right decision!
