I've read 3 of your suggestions and loved them all, so I've added the other 2 to my wish list.
I loved The Joy Luck Club. The movie adaptation was pretty good for that one too.
I wanted my book group to read The Book Thief but they shot it down because it's classified as YA. I am going to read it on my own.
