I knew that I wasn't going to surpass the 16 books I read in April, but May's totals weren't too shabby. I read 10 books, including 1 children's book reviewed with The Girl and 1 book for the War Through the Generations WWII reading challenge (bringing my total for the challenge to 9). If I've calculated correctly, I've read 52 books so far this year, bringing me closer to my goal of 100. And I'm still on track with my goal of reviewing every book I read. It's been exhausting, but well worth it.
Anyway, here is the list of books I read in May [click on the titles to read my reviews]:
The 8th Confession by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro
A Lucky Child by Thomas Buergenthal
The Wonder Singer by George Rabasa
The Four Corners of the Sky by Michael Malone
Dear Anais: My Life in Poems for You by Diana M. Raab
The Triumph of Deborah by Eva Etzioni-Halevy
Princess Katie and the Silver Pony (Tiara Club book 2) by Vivian French
The Jewel Trader of Pegu by Jeffrey Hantover
Mating Rituals of the North American WASP by Lauren Lipton
Precious by Sandra Novack
Of the authors listed above, I was happy to welcome Lauren Lipton to talk about her writing space and to interview George Rabasa and Sandra Novack.
I have numerous review copies to read over the next few months, but I'm not accepting as many these days so I can focus more on the War Through the Generations challenge and books that have been sitting on my shelf unread for too long. I wish there were more hours in the day for reading!
Are you all making progress on your reading goals? How many books did you read in May? Let me know in the comments!

Me, too. I'm trying very hard to be extremely selective in accepting books. I think I'm doing better -- my reading has improved, this year.
I have The Jewel Trader of Pegu on my stacks -- one I got free at my library's ARC giveaway. I just love it when they do that. A free book with no obligation is a very fine thing. :)
BTW, looks like you had a terrific month and you should easily be able to make your goal!
It looks like I read nine in May...not the best, not the worst. But I am focusing primarily on my reading challenges, and I'm making some headway. I intend to have most or all of them nailed his summer, so I can start some new ones in the fall!
How funny to see Princess Katie on your list. My daughter just finished that one last night.
You had a good month Anna. I still need to get my wrap up done. I'm running a bit behind. lol.
You had a great reading month! One thing I've been forgetting to do is mark off books in each challenge - I'll definitely have to rectify that. You won my May giftaway, by the way - I sent you an email.
I've been attempting to be more selective in ARC choice as well. I've had to slog through a few that I should not have requested, so I have definitely learned my lesson. I'd rather read the books I purchased for myself than some of those!
Congrats! You are doing a fantastic job of reviewing all those books that you've been reading...wonderful...keep up the good work.
You had a great month! Even if it was *only* 10! ;) I just began reading A Lucky Child and I am already captivated by his story! A few of the others I have on my TBR list.
Thanks, everyone! It seems that being really selective still brings in too many books. Thank goodness I'll be taking a couple of camping trips in July. Camping = lots 'o reading (I hope).
