We Have Winners...And I'm Not One of Them

I was unintentionally absent from the blog yesterday, but it was a horrible, exhausting day. First, I almost missed my bus in the morning, then we lost power at work for 2 hours, then I was stuck on a disabled train during my afternoon commute for over an hour with no ventilation and the temperature easily approaching or possibly exceeding 100 degrees. And this morning, I was drenched 30 seconds after I stepped off the bus into a roaring thunderstorm. I just finished drying my sneakers and socks with the little heater in my cubicle. But I hear the birds singing and the sun is out, so I'm hopeful that better times are ahead. :)

Anyway, I missed Mailbox Monday, so I'll be doing two weeks in one post next time. And I hope to post some book reviews this week, too.

First, I'll let you know that The Girl is officially a 4th grader! She had one A+, one B, and the rest A's on her latest report card, which is great since she transferred to this school in February. We thought the switch would be hard on her, but she loved it right away and made a lot of friends. I only hope I can continue to afford the tuition. It's killing us already.

Next, I think it's about time I announced some giveaway winners!!

The winners of Mating Rituals of the North American WASP by Lauren Lipton are pamwax, Sandy, Staci, nfmgirl, and minishoes1. Congrats!

And the winner of Precious by Sandra Novack is Kristi! Congrats!

Thank you all for getting back to me so quickly with your addresses. I've passed them on, and the books should get to you soon.

Well, now that Randomizer.org has made some new friends, I think I'm going to lay low and hope that the rest of my day is smooth sailing.

I think having a day like that would have given me enough ammunition to call in sick and get a massage!

Congratulations to your 4th grader! It's awesome that she made such a good switch. I will probably have to do it with my daughter in the near future and I am actually afraid that she will have issues assimilating. Hopefully not or better yet, hopefully we will not have to do it until she finishes the elementary school.

Thanks everyone for making me feel better. Yesterday did turn out to be not so bad after all. If Friday afternoon would get here already, I'd be golden! LOL

P.S. The Girl says "thanks!" I think her head is getting bigger by the minute. ;P
