Anyway, it's Mailbox Monday time again, and I only added 3 books to my shelves this week. I'm accepting very few review copies these days because I have enough books in my house already. (If you want to see what books other peeps bought, borrowed, or received in the mail, visit The Printed Page. And as always, a big thanks to Marcia for hosting.)
Here are my new books:
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
Serena managed to snag an ARC of this book, and since she's already pre-ordered a copy, she was nice enough to give it to me and my hubby. Thanks, Serena! I started it on the train this morning because I couldn't wait (and it's our book club's September selection), and now I can't wait for the work day to be over so I can pick up where I left off.
The Night Gardener by George Pelecanos
This book was sent to me by Drey. She kindly offered me her copy after I commented on her review. She made me curious about the creepy ending. Thanks, Drey!

I saw that Serena had given you this book, sooo jealous at both of you. I can't wait to hear what you think
I also have The Night Gardener! I haven't read it yet, but that creepy ending has me interested. I got email from Amazon that the hardcover of Catching Fire is on its way to my house!
Wow, all of those books look top notch. I got Everything Sucks too.
Always nice to welcome new books into the home and boy do I love hearing about The Girl being so excited to start grade 4! My daughter begins grade three on Wednesday and can't wait! She's counting down by the hours now, lol ...
Every time is see Everything Sucks I can just imagine my daughter proclaiming that when she gets to high school!
My daughter has to wait until September 10th to start school. And she can't wait.
The books you have on for this week all look super interesting so I'll be waiting for reviews.
I have The Night Gardener but have not read it yet. I still have not read The Hunger Games...I can't seem to win/find a copy of it...So it will be a good while before I read Catching Fire.
Happy Reading!!
I'm seeing Everything Sucks around a bit. It is intriguing so I'll be curious to see what everyone thinks.
Interesting selection. Have fun reading!
Congrats on not getting a boat load of books =)
I enjoy books that do not have the words "to review" attached to it.
My Mailbox is up at The Burton Review.
I'd love to read the first two!! But I still need to read The Hunger Games, probably the last person on earth :-(
Nice books Anna. Rest up girlfriend! Congrats to the girl .... Fourth grade is awesome!
I got my shipping confirmation from Amazon this AM that Catching Fire is coming! Can't wait!
I also got Everything Sucks. But I am also the only one on the planet who doesn't have Catching Fire yet, so I have to remedy that!
I'm with you on the BBAW blog reading...thought my head was going to explode! It is an amazing experience though, and I'd do it all over again. There is a whole undiscovered blog world out there!
Night Gardener is really gritty and dark, and wonderful! I loved it!
I was a bit disturbed to see EW rate Catching Fire a "C". That isn't going to stop me though...I'm trying to get my hands on the audio!
Everything Sucks! I like the title.
Happy reading.
Mondays: What's up?
Everything Sucks was Totally Amazing!
Ahhhh I related to it so much, and it was just so well written and enjoyable. Can't wait to read your review!!
I'm jealous that you got a copy of Everything Sucks from the author! It sounds like a great book. Happy reading!
Great finds! The Night Gardener looks like fun!
Your mailbox was very good to you!!
My son would love to read Catching Fire!
All those look great! I've been seeing Everything Sucks around and it's gotten my interest now. Enjoy!
Ooohhh, Catching Fire! Good one!
I received Her Fearful Symmetry today and was sooooo excited! You've got some great titles there!
please stop by for some lemonade and an award
Now you've got me struggling to remember the ending of The Night Gardener. For the life of me, I can't remember. It's been awhile since I read it though.
Enjoy your new books, Anna!
Nice mailbox, I can't wait to read Catching Fire, but got Hunger Games to start on first lol. I've also got Night Gardener, but on audio.
You are so lucky getting Everything Sucks, one I really want to read, it sounds great!
I LOVE the title of Everything Sucks! Have great week!
Looks like three great books. Enjoy!
Wow, what a great bunch of additions. Here are mine.
You got some great new book this week, Anna.
Happy first day of school to The Girl. I remember those days- laying out my clothes the night before because I wanted everything to go right. I couldn't wait to see friends I hadn't seen over the summer to compare tan lines and to see who was taller! :D
I actually got two great books recently. I bought "Japanese Country Cooking" with the gift card that Serena got me for my birthday. It's a book that I've wanted for a very long time and I'm so happy with it. It is more than a recipe book. It tells about the history of Japanese food.
The second book I got recently is called, "The Lazy Environmentalist On A Budget". A marketing person that represents the author contacted me through my blog and offered to send it to me. I'll be doing a review of it very soon. Giggle giggle...I feel like you and Serena now!
Talk to you very soon. Big hugs to you Anna!!
I really don't have any more room in my TBR-pile (what else is new?), but I think Catching Fire may have to make an appearance!
Enjoy your books! I'm going to start Everything Sucks soon.
I have The Night Gardener but I haven't read it yet. Looking forward to your thoughts though!
Thanks everyone for stopping by my mailbox!
~Esme: Thanks very much!
~Jeannie: Hope you enjoy your new books.
