August in Review

It felt like I did a lot more reading last month, but I read just one more book than July. I read 10 books in August, bringing my total for the year to 79. I'm pretty confident I can reach my goal of 100. I've also managed to keep with my goal of reviewing all the books I read.

Here's my list for the month, and you can click the links to read my reviews:

Mr. Darcy, Vampyre by Amanda Grange*
Inés of My Soul by Isabel Allende
Hugh and Bess by Susan Higginbotham
Stones in Water by Donna Jo Napoli**
The Madonnas of Leningrad by Debra Dean**
He Was My Chief by Christa Schroeder**
A Girl's Guide to Modern European Philosophy by Charlotte Greig
The Luckiest Penny by Deborah Weed and Ernest Socolov (illus.)
Dirty Water by Mary-Ann Tirone Smith and Jere Smith
Floating in My Mother's Palm by Ursula Hegi

*counted toward the Everything Austen challenge
**counted toward the WWII reading challenge at War Through the Generations

So tell me...how many books did you read in August? Are you meeting your personal reading goals?

I've read 20 books in August and that was way beyond any plan I had!!

Great job on getting to 100 this year!!

That's great! I don't think I'll be making 100 this year but you never know right? :)

Good luck reaching your goal. And, most importantly, hope you read lots of good books!

I don't think I read as many in August as in some other months but I did pick it up the end of the month. I'm up to 82 for the year and my goal is 100 so I guess I'm doing well.

Pretty good month for me I guess when thinking about how little time I had at the 2nd half of the month.

Great month for you :)

I think I got through 7 or 8 in August. These chunksters are cramping my style! Congrats to you! You had a great month with some phenomenal reads!

Congrats on all of the reading you got done! I know it's hard to keep up and review every book you read. I try to do that too, but sometimes fudge a little on re-reads.

You're a reading goddess, know that? I am envious; I miss being able to read that much. Not to mention have the discipline to review them all!

You'll definitely make 100.

I read quite a few this month, but have reviewed only a couple. I just can't keep up. Maybe now that the kids are back in school!

Great work. Didn't really do an August wrap up because I didn't make too much progress in August. I spent a lot of time working and getting acquainted with the blogging communities.

I've been trying to keep up with responding to comments, but I continue to fail miserably. Isn't it pathetic that I'm responding to your comments on my August wrap-up just as I'm preparing to post my September wrap-up? I thought so.

Thanks to everyone who commented. There's still a few months left of the year to meet our reading goals!

~MissHazelEyes: Thanks for stopping by. I will check out your blog soon.

~Blodeuedd: Thanks for the award! I'm behind in posting those, too.

~Susan: Me, a reading goddess? Hardly! Have you seen S. Krishna's totals for the year?!?
