Mailbox Monday -- October 5

It's time for another Mailbox Monday, where bookish folks share the titles they received in the mail or otherwise obtained over the last week.  A big thank you to Marcia from The Printed Page for hosting.

Hope you all are doing well on this bright sunny Monday (at least where I am).  I didn't get much blog reading done this weekend, as I pulled a muscle in my back and lounged around more than I would have otherwise.  Though I'm still in pain and should be resting at home, I'm at work and alternating between a waddle and a hunched-over walk.  I'm getting caught up on the blogs slowly but surely.  There just isn't enough time in one day to get everything done.

Anyway, here are the books I received last week.  Only 1 review copy, and I'm proud of myself for continuing to resist temptation.

Prodigal Sons by Sheldon Greene (from the author)

Resistance by Owen Sheers (contest win from You've GOTTA Read This...thanks Sandy!!)

Life's Compass for Eternal Treasure by Sarah Beth Lindberg (contest win from One Person's Journey through a world of Books...thanks Sheila!)

and a few books given to me by a co-worker:

Summer by Edith Wharton

Murder on the Ballarat Train (A Phryne Fisher Mystery) by Kerry Greenwood

Five Wishes:  How Answering One Simple Question Can Make Your Dreams Come True by Gay Hendricks

What books did you welcome into your home recently?

great list of books...I got some books from the coworker too but forgot to put them on the list since they are still in my desk at work and not at home where I write these mailbox monday posts.

Ahhhh. SUMMER is the novel that caused me to fall in love with Edith Wharton. I hope you like it. I was young when I read it and initially thought it was going to be romantic, but I ended up loving it anyway!

The Wharton book looks interested, I have not heard about it. Happy reading

Sorry about the back problems. Hope you continue to mend. I haven't heard of any of the books you've listed, although I do know who Edith Wharton is.

It really stinks to get older you know? Sometimes all I have to do is sneeze, and my back seizes up! I'm glad you received Resistance, and I hope you like it!

Oh good you got it! :) I was hoping I would see Sarah (the author) this fall yet but havent heard from her.

I love that book and the back picture of her was taken by me in my back yard. We had so much fun shooting pics for the book.

Enjoy!

I always love seeing other people's mailbox Monday posts, especially when I don't recognize a single book on the list (as with your post today). It always gets me excited about how many books are out there waiting to be read (and sometimes it's overwhelming to think about too).

Oh, and I can relate to the pulled muscle injury - I pulled some ab muscles last week, so I'm all wrapped up in an ab muscle wrap. Not much is getting done around my place either. I hope your back feels better soon.

I've read Summer and Murder on the Ballarat Train. Ballarat is very light and entertaining. Summer is one of my favorite Wharton novels.

~Sheila: Cool! I'll have to check out the pic again.
