Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I was a bad blogger last week, posting only twice, but The Girl's school play is this coming weekend, so she's had some long practices followed by homework, making me a very tired mom. I have been doing a lot of reading, though, so expect a bunch of reviews in the coming days.
The weather was beautiful over the weekend, and we were able to play a little basketball and enjoy a walk in the park with Serena and her husband. But now another work week has started, and it's time for another Mailbox Monday, the weekly meme hosted by Marcia from The Printed Page where book lovers share the titles they purchased, received for review, or otherwise obtained over the past week. Here's what came to my house:
Juliet by Anne Fortier, from Random House
College in a Nutskull by Anders Henriksson, from Workman Publishing. I wasn't expecting this book, so I flipped through it to see what it was about...and ended up reading it in two sittings. It was hilarious! Not sure my hubby appreciated me reading the entire book out loud, though.
Sandition by Jane Austen, a contest win from Austenprose. Thanks, Laurel Ann!
A Long Stone's Throw by Alphie McCourt, from Dawn. Thank you!
SPHDZ Book #1! (Spaceheadz) by Jon Scieszka, Shane Prigmore, and Francesco Sedita, from Simon & Schuster. Another surprise book, but The Girl is excited about this one. It's about aliens, one of which is disguised as the class hamster.
What books did you add to your shelves recently?

I only recently found out that this third McCourt brother was published. Looking forward to hearing what you think about this one.
Enjoy!
It looks like a you got some good books! It's always so fun getting new books in the mail!
I'm jealous that you won Sanditon...I thought you had that one already though!
Juliet looks interesting, I must go and have a closer look
Looks like a bunch of us got Juliet this week! Enjoy your goodies! Here's my Mailbox.
Hey I envy you!
Mondays: Mailbox/Musings/whereabouts
Looks like you had a fruitful mailbox last week! That College book sounds like it would have been a funny one.
What a great bunch of books. I have seen Juliet on a few blogs this morning.
The last book you mentioned sounds good. I will have to check that one out for my son.
Happy reading and thanks for sharing your mailbox with us.
I just got College in a Nutskull myself and I couldn't quit laughing...
Glad Sanditon arrived. I hope you enjoy it Anna.
I got Juliet too! Isn't the cover gorgeous? That Spaceheadz book looks cute too! Good luck to The Girl on her play!
Great new books, Anna! I didn't get any new books last week, but I have plenty of "old" ones to keep me busy reading. :)
I also got Juliet - a lot of us did! It looks really great!
I can relate to the busy mom thing definitely and it was a beautiful weekend in Atlanta too, except for the pollen!
Have a great week and happy reading!
Next time, feel free to call me. You can read an entire book out loud to ME. :D
I thought College in a Nutskull was hilarious too! I hope the play goes well!
Great loot!

I've been looking forward to Juliet for a while now! I got one book this week.
Your mailbox looks like great fun!!!
That McCourt book looks interesting -- I'll have to give it a look.
Here is my Mailbox list on Rose City Reader.
Happy reading!
I wasn't expecting College in a Nutskull or Spaceheadz, either. And, I did the same thing with Nutskull -- read it and laughed my fool head off. In my case, kiddo and I took turns reading aloud and laughing till we had to cross our legs. :)
The Hamster alien book sounds good!
I got three books last week:
-Zombie an Anthology - edited by Christopher Golden
-Soulless by Christopher Golden (another zombie book)
-Dreams made Flesh by Anne Bishop
Every once in awhile I come across a book that has me laughing so much I go around the house reading it to the rest of my family (at least those who will listen) so I totally get your enthusiasm for College in a Nutskull.
What play is The Girl doing? Bet all those long hours of rehersal will pay off in a confident performer! I recently helped out with 'my girl's' school play. The Oompa Loompas were the best, had a blast doing their hair and makeup! Even better though, was hanging out with the kids and helping keep them entertained between cue calls. It made watching them come to life so animated and in character on stage, that much more rewarding!
I got Spaceheadz this week also and my son thinks it looks like a fun book.
Great mailbox! I'm really intrigued with Juliet!
Great mailbox - I wouldn't mind reading Juliet one day. Sounds like you've been a busy mom - I hope The Girl has a good time with her play. The walk in the park sounds awesome. It's been really nice here so I've been able to spend some time outside finally! Have a good week Anna.
I got the Nutskull book too and am planning to break it open when I'm having one of those reader's block days. :)
Great books! I think Juliet looks really good so I can't wait for your review!
Wow, I've never heard of that Jane Austen book! And what a nice collection of books you have.
Thanks for visiting my blog.
I received that humour book unsolicited too, and I spent 30 minutes reading bits of it out loud to my mom. We were both laughing hysterically!
Sanditon sounds such a good read. Have fun.
Hi Anna, I like your mailbox! The cover for JULIET looks good!
Thank you all for stopping by my mailbox! The Girl's play (Cinderella Kids) was a big success, and now that it's over, hopefully my schedule will get back to normal.
Laurel Ann: Thanks again!
Serena: I don't have this edition. The version I have includes Sanditon with two other Austen works.
Sullivan McPig: The Zombie books sounds really good!
