Back to the finished knits. I have a bunch of new ones and a few old ones to show you. Here's an "oldie," but definitely a goodie!
Anyway, if you know me well, you know how much I love knitting socks, especially Jaywalkers. I've knit three pairs so far, and posted about the Tweedy Jaywalkers that were a gift to Serena and the Black Cherry Jaywalkers that go down in history as being the second pair I ever knit and the first for myself.
I saved my most favorite socks for last, and you can bet I kept these all to myself.
Flame Jaywalkers
Pattern: Grumperina's Jaywalker socks from MagKnits
Yarn: Trekking XXL (color 124)
Needles: U.S. 2 Clover Bamboo DPNs
Started: 4/2006
Finished: 8/2006
Modifications: I went up a needle size and knit the leg shorter than called for in the pattern. They stop only a couple of inches above my ankle.

I only used a little more than half the ball of Trekking. I had enough left over to knit The Girl a pair of roll-top stockinette socks for Christmas last year. (She's already outgrown them, and she's not pleased about it. I'd post a picture of them, but they definitely are well loved...and dirty. Yes, I cringed when she ran around on the dirt and grass with no shoes on, but, well, she's a kid, so I let it go...)
This was the last ball in this colorway at the yarn store (sorry, Serena!), and I snapped it up as soon as I saw it. I'm the type of person who loves bright (but tasteful) colors, but I'm too self-conscious to wear them. I love the pairing of the orange and the blue. I just wish there were a few more blue stripes. I remember bringing the yarn up to the cash register, and the woman behind the counter raised her eyebrows and said, "Um...that's going to be one loud pair of socks." And I just grinned and said, "I know. Won't they be great?!"

i just love those socks...and am so jealous...I think there are just the right number of blue stripes in there.
holy cow you are on a blogging roll and if i remember to get those other photos up on the flickr, you can blog again tomorrow! LOL
Woo-hoo! Another blog post in the making!
If I ever find that colorway again, you can be sure I'll snap it up. I could just look online, but that'd be too much work for my tired mind.
Wow are those BRIGHT!!!! Where's my shades? ok, that's better! ")
I like the blue in there too, adds to the whole Flame name!
More posts are coming right???? LOL!!
Those are awesome socks! What is your favorite sock yarn?
I am stuck on Sock Pixie and SeaCoast, but due to Xmas, I am on a serious yarn diet.
Hope you are well and I am glad you got the scarves, I am just crap all in answering emails these days, I am seriously behind in all my classes.
she better have more posts coming since i posted and emailed her the photos she needs!
Didn't realize my posts were in such demand, LOL!
Seriously, now...
Since I rarely get to treat myself to yarn, I don't really discriminate against sock yarn. The Koigu is great, Trekking is great. There are tons I want to try, though, like Socks That Rock.
With these flame socks, the blue stripes were my absolute favorite! They really made the whole colorway come together.
