When I began blogging, I only wanted a place to keep track of my knitting projects, take down my thoughts about the books I read, and motivate myself to keep writing. I never imagined I'd make some friends or find so many interesting blogs that my knitting and reading to-do lists would grow out of control! These are the best parts of the blogging process.
In the year that I've been blogging, I met some great people who I consider friends even though we've never met. I reviewed more than 50 books, posted 2 free knitting patterns, posted pictures of 4 pairs of Jaywalkers I knit, and attended a writing conference. That's more than I'd ever imagined, and I feel I've made a lot of progress in pursuing the activities I enjoy most.
In honor of my first blogiversary, I have 3 prizes to give away. The main focus of my blog is knitting and reading, so I figured raiding my stash and bookcase for some yarn and books would make some great prizes. Here are the goodies up for grabs:
Yarn: 3 full hanks (100 yards each) and 1 almost full hank of Farmhouse Yarns Woodland Spun; hand dyed, single ply bulky; 75% wool, 25% alpaca; colorway Moss.
Books: Maggie Cassidy by Jack Kerouac and The Yellow Wall-Paper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman (I hope there are some classics lovers out there!)
All you have to do to enter is leave a comment here (or for those of you not able to comment, you can email me at anna_begood AT hotmail DOT com) and let me know if you want to be entered in the drawing for the yarn or the books. **If you want to double your chances of winning, you can link to this post from your blog.** (Feel free to enter, regardless of your location!)
**ETA: Feel free to enter to win both the yarn and the books! I just didn't want people to win yarn they don't want or win books they don't want to read!**
**ETA: If you don't have a blog that will provide me a way to contact you in the event that you win, please include your email address in the comments. Thanks!!**
You have until the close of Monday, June 30. The next day, I'll put the names in a hat, and let The Girl pull out the winners. Good luck, and thanks for celebrating with me!

Serena at Savvy Verse and Wit also is celebrating her first blogiversary this month with a contest. All the information you need to enter is in this post.

Happy Blogiversary!!!
And Id like t be counted in for the books!!!
Hi Anna! On very, very rare occasions the Great Firewall lets up for a few hours and I can actually visit and leave comments on Blogger! So I seized this opportunity to drop by and say hi. Just wanted to wish you a happy blogiversary! I am inundated with stash and books so I know I really shouldn't be entering myself but it's too tempting not to join in the fun. If I win the yarn, I'll make something for you or the The Girl!
Ann
Thanks everyone!
Ann, I'm so glad the Great Firewall allowed you to pop in!!
I would love to win the books-The Yellow Wallpaper sounds like a good read!

I would love to win both the yarn and the books. I have a passion for both knitting and books. Jack Kerouac brings back memories of my younger days when I wanted to grow up and be part of the beat generation.
The Yellow Wallpaper is one of my favorite stories
Happy blogiversary! I love to knit and read, so I'd love a chance to win either prize.
