Happy Monday! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. My life has been crazy-hectic lately, and I've been crashing on the couch most evenings and leaving the laptop untouched. I apologize if I've been absent from your blogs, but I hope to catch up with my blog reading soon!
In the meantime, welcome to Mailbox Monday, the weekly meme hosted by Marcia from The Printed Page where bookworms share the titles they received for review, purchased, or otherwise obtained over the last week. I didn't have a Mailbox Monday post last week due to an empty mailbox, but that was fine by me since there's no shortage of reading material in my house. However, I've made up for lost time.
The Lost Summer of Louisa May Alcott by Kelly O'Connor McNees, from Amy Einhorn Books/Putnam
Beatrice and Virgil by Yann Martel, from Random House. This was a surprise package, as I didn't request the book and hadn't even heard of it until opening the envelope.
A Hundred Feet Over Hell: Flying With the Men of the 220th Recon Airplane Company Over I Corps and the DMZ, Vietnam 1968-1969 by Jim Hooper, from Lisa Roe/Online Publicist. This will count for the Vietnam War Reading Challenge at War Through the Generations.
The Sultan's Harem by Colin Falconer, contest win from historical-fiction.com
O, Juliet by Robin Maxwell, from a co-worker
Digging to America by Anne Tyler, from a co-worker
Fireworks Over Toccoa by Jeffrey Stepakoff, from St. Martin's Press. Visit the official Fireworks Over Toccoa website for a huge excerpt, a note from the author, and a huge giveaway of 300 copies of the book!
The Looking House by Fred Marchant, from the author, who was my professor for the Vietnam literature course I took in college
What books did you add to your shelves recently?

Here is my mailbox: http://bibliophilebythesea.blogspot.com/2010/03/mailbox-monday_15.html
I wish Beatrice and Virgil would show up at my house! Lucky!
Nice mailbox list. I enjoyed Digging to America. THe Lost Summer of LMA is on my wishlist.
Beatrice and Virgil by Yann Martel sounds interesting...and darn it, you got some good ones from our coworker while I was out!
Good thing I went to the poetry festival, eh?!
I have a few of these that I can't wait to read. Especially The Lost Summer of LMA. Happy reading! My mailbox is at The Crowded Leaf.
What a yummy mailbox!
I am looking forward to your review on the Louisa May Alcott book. Congrats on your giveaway win!
I hope you enjoy O, Juliet as much as I did!
Happy Reading!
My mailbox is here.
ooh, you got some really good ones- I enjoyed Fireworks over Toccoa and my review will be up Saturday for Show Me 5.
I hope you enjoy your new books. Have a great week and happy reading.
Anna you have some fantastic reads here. I was in the crash zone last week.... by the time I had time to be on the computer, my eyes were burning and it just didnt happen.
Enjoy this week!
Looks like your mailbox made up for the week before! My mailbox was totally empty last week but like you...I'm not needing anything new in the house so that's ok. Enjoy your new books.
I enjoyed Digging To America. Beatrice and Virgil looks good too. I received The Lost Summer as well and can't wait to read it! Enjoy all your new books!
I'm looking forward to reading Fireworks Over Toccoa....I love the cover!
Enjoy your books!
Hey there, Anna! Happy you received Jim Hooper's book. Can't wait to hear what you think!
Best,
Lisa
A few of those are on my wishlist!
Mondays: Musings/Mailbox/Whereabouts
Some interesting books. Hope you enjoy it all! My MM is up.
Great Mailbox Monday, Anna! Maybe Mondays are the best day of the week after all. I am most interested in the Vietnam War books and The Lost Summer.
Here's mine:http://suko95.blogspot.com/2010/03/mailbox-monday_15.html
The Sultan's Harem sounds good, great mailbox!
Oh! Beatrice and Virgil! I loved The Life of Pi, so I am very excited to see how this one holds up! And here is the deal. One of my husband's friends who is a Vietnam Vet said that A Hundred Feet Over Hell is by far the best Vietnam book he has ever read. You can't buy it on the Kindle, and they are often sold out at the bookstore, so I keep meaning to order it from Amazon. I can't wait to hear about it.
I am seeing The Lost Summer all over the place, lol. I really would love to read this one sometime. Great group of books!! Enjoy them all and have a great week!

All of these look great! I just saw a review for Beatrice & Virgil in Marie Claire. Looks like it might be pretty good. Happy reading!
I'm so jealous of the Beatrice and Virgil book! :) I'm hoping it will arrive out of the blue here (but it's not like I don't have enough to read).
The Vietnam book looks interesting. I like true war stories, and look forward to seeing all of your Vietnam book reviews this year.
I want them all!!!
Enjoy!
Nice mailbox! Beatrice and Virgil looks very enticing.
Take of yourself and don't worry about visiting blogs. We'll be here when you have the time.
I thougt Life of Pi was great. I hope you enjoy it, too!
Oh, and I just looked more closely and realized the book you received was Beatrice and Virgil, not Life of Pi. Sorry! Well, I haven't read that one, but I hope you like it.
Great batch of books -- I've got DIGGING TO AMERICA on my TBR list. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it!
Great books! I've been seeing a lot of great reviews for Fireworks over Toccoa - I'll look forward to hearing what you think! And thanks for pointing out the giveaway!
I want to read O Juliet soon, can't wait to hear what you think about it. Take care Anna! ;O)
Great selection! The LMA one looks great. I love when those surprise books arrive and Beatrice and Virgil should be a goodie!
Great mailbox! Looks like a lot of good stuff Anna. Enjoy!
Beatrice and Virgil looks good! I read Life of Pi and liked it, but for some reason I never looked for other books by the same author.
I read Digging to America last year and liked it right up the end. I'd love to read Beatrice and Virgil since I love Life of Pi.
If nothing else, you got a lot of great covers! Hope you enjoy!
Thank you all for stopping by my mailbox!
