Some Christmas Fun

Wendi tagged me for this meme, and though I'm behind in these things, I thought I should push this one to the top of the list since Christmas is tomorrow.

What is your first Christmas memory?

I remember the Christmas my father gave my mother the watch she'd wanted for ages. It had a few diamonds on it, and it must've cost my father a lot. I knew it was a big gift because he took a picture of her opening it. I haven't seen that picture in ages, but I can see it in my head clear as day, the smile on my mom's face. I think that was the year Santa brought me Rainbow Brite. (Now I'm dating myself, LOL) I must've been about 5 or 6.

Do you have a favorite Christmas gift?

I love any gift that someone put a lot of work or thought into, like the scrapbook Serena gave me last year. Any gift that my daughter buys on her own is my favorite. The school opens a little shop for the kids to do their Christmas shopping, and she's always so happy when she comes out with all her packages.

Have you ever celebrated Christmas outside your country?

Since I've never been out of the country ever, that'd be a no. It's not out of the country, but I'd love to celebrate Christmas at Disney World. I saw the show on the Food Network, and they go all out.

What is your favorite Christmas decoration?

I have a lot of old ornaments on my tree, many made by me and my sister when we were little. But my favorite is a styrofoam ball that my mother added red beads to in a pattern. It's a smiley face with a strip of hair at the top. I have no idea what it's supposed to be, but I die laughing every time I hang it on the tree. Whenever my mother travels to spend Christmas with us (not this year, unfortunately), she tries to take it off the tree and get rid of it for good, but I won't let her.

What is your favorite Christmas tradition?

My family puts our tree up the day after Thanksgiving, and every year, we each choose a new ornament.

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

Not in a very long time, but I'll settle for good ol' Bing singing about one.

Have you ever gone Christmas caroling?

No, but I'd love to. I don't know anyone who'd want to go with me, though. (Serena?? LOL)

What is your favorite Christmas movie or story?

The story of Jesus' birth, of course, but Rudolph, Frosty, and the Grinch are favorites, too. Oh, and Mickey's Christmas Carol. I loved that cartoon as a kid.

Do you have a Christmas link you would like to share?

Unfortunately, no. Other than blog reading and checking email, I don't really surf the Web. But if anyone has found anything interesting, please let me know in the comments!

Since Christmas is tomorrow, I'm not going to tag anyone in particular. But feel free to play along, and let me know in the comments so I can read yours.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Hmm - if we lived close enough I'D go caroling with you - AND help you coerce Serena into tagging along - LOL. Fun meme. My fondest childhood Christmas memories include Christmas caroling in Northern Michigan. Seems to be a grand old tradition that has seen its time come and go long gone.

I enjoyed reading about your Christmas memories, Anna. The question about Christmas carolling is bringing back wonderful memories of my own. :-) Have a Merry Christmas.

I have spent only 4 Christmases overseas - 2 in Greece as a child, 1 in Ecuador on my exchange year and last year in Germany.

Thanks for all the Christmas wishes! I didn't go caroling, though Serena and I sang enough carols in our office that we should have just gone and done it. LOL
